AN APPEAL TO REPRINT THE TAJWIDI QUR’AN
Shaykh Nooruddeen’s transliteration/translation of the Tajwidi Qur’an has been a blessing for us all. Through it many have been able to begin to learn Arabic, and meanwhile to capture the sound of the Arabic verses in order to purify and perfect their prayers. We have also had the benefit of a generous and beneficent translation free of gender or political bias. Hundreds of copies are spread throughout the country and the world in homes and masajid. It is almost sold out.
With many translations available, you may well ask, “Why this one?”
This is why:
• Many people who may have learned to read the Qur’an in Arabic do not know what it says. And those who read it only in English miss many nuances of meaning and do not benefit from the sacred sound of the words of Allah, subhanahu wa t’ala.
• This edition, the Tajwidi Qur’an, allows both types of readers to benefit. Its beautiful, clear Arabic script, with tajwid marked in the text, is a joy to those who can read. Add to that:
• Transliteration which gives beginners an almost perfect representation of the sound of the Arabic, thereby allowing them to read
• Translation which is at the same time respectful and modern in understandable contemporary language
So we are now asking all of you who know and love the Qur’an if you can help to make it available to others through your gift. Anything at all will help. The cost of reprinting five thousand is $50,000.
Here are some suggestions:
* Send $33 as hadiyyah to give a copy of the Qur’an to somebody else in the future; it will be given away after the printing Insha’Allah.
* Donate a significant amount as a sadaqa jariyyiah – ongoing sadaqa – in honor of someone you love, eg your mother, your husband, your child, a friend. We will mention the person in a gifts page in the mushaf itself and ask that al-Fatihah be read for them.
* Make a beautiful loan – a qarda hassana – to the Qur’an project with no interest. It will be repaid Insha’Allah from the future sales in the order in which it is received.
* Become a partner in the project; invest in a number of books which you will then receive to distribute or sell yourself.
* Simply send a gift for the Qur’an.
